CRAZY SHORTCUTS

You have to buy this book! "Crazy Shortcuts". It's fabulous! I'm just over the moon about this book! I can't say enough about it!

OK...here's the thing.....I design fabrics. I've been sewing since I was 10. I've done tailoring, made jackets, blazers, men's shirts, coats, my daughter's clothes, my own clothes and I quilt. But I do NOT quilt large quilts. I've made large quilts but have only quilted a couple on the machine and thought I'd never do it again because it's just too darn hard on my upper body - the weight, the bulk, the twisting and turning of that large unmanageable mass of layers....! No way I thought!

Well, this book breaks it all down into piecing in crazy quilt fashion. No matching corners, no pre-measuring other than rough squares - all quilting done one small square at a time that you join with sashing with a system that is so unbelievably SIMPLE and makes such common sense!
Tonight I actually cut out and pieced 12 complete squares. I've never pieced that many squares in an evening before. The speed was remarkable and now I'm ready to layer them and quilt them tomorrow with fancy stitches and laces and all sorts of fun embellishments, one-at-a-time!
I will take pics of the progress as I go.

I'm even using my own fabric collection, Retro Romance, from Clothworks. I was saving it for something special and this system is perfect for the feminine look of the designs on it.
